The Gala

The 29th Golden Globes Gala took place last Sunday evening, September 28th, at the Coliseu dos Recreios, honoring the best in various artistic fields in Portugal.
The Golden Globes in Portugal recognize personalities and projects in the fields of Film, Theater, Music, Fiction, Entertainment, Humor, and Fashion.
 The nominees were announced on July 22, 2025, by the Commission of Notables, the body responsible for selecting the nominees. One of the nominated songs was "Deslocado" by NAPA, representing Portugal on the national and international stage. 
The gala also showcased fashion and design trends in jewelry, dresses, and accessories on the red carpet, reflecting contemporary Portuguese style.
In this article, we highlight some of the looks that, in our opinion, marked this iconic night for our country.

Before the intense emotions and the highly anticipated awards, the red carpet was home to many public figures. From classic, bold, and irreverent looks to more sophisticated and elegant creations, several stars shone on what is considered the most memorable night of the year.

Interestingly, international musical performances included Laura Pausini and Calum Scott, who elevated the evening's glamour. Also performing were Portuguese groups Trovante and Silence 4.

The Winners and Standout Moments

The winners of the most anticipated awards in Film, Theater, Music, Fiction, and Fashion were announced during the gala.

Some of the honorees were:
  • Joana Santos - named Best Actress in a Motion Picture for On Falling.
  • João Pedro Vaz - for his role in Os Papéis do Inglês, among the winners for Best Actor in a Motion Picture.
  • The film Banzo by Margarida Cardoso - was recognized among the award-winning films.
  • In the Fashion category, Constança Entrudo was awarded Personality of the Year in Fashion. 
  • In Humor, Ricardo Araújo Pereira was named Personality of the Year. 
  • The Merit and Excellence Award was presented to Júlio Isidro, in a tribute to his career.

The gala was also marked by speeches with social content and references to contemporary issues, such as the situation in Palestine, which Joana Santos addressed when accepting her award.

The 2025 edition of the Portuguese Golden Globes once again demonstrated why it is considered the most glamorous and media-focused night of the year in Portugal. Celebrating national culture—from film to music, theater to fashion—as well as recognizing outstanding careers, the gala always combines emotion, talent, and brilliance.

But it's not just an awards ceremony: the speeches laden with social messages, the symbolic fashion choices, and the artistic diversity on stage proved, once again, that this event goes beyond glamour, also serving as a platform for cultural awareness and expression.

In short, the 2025 Golden Globes reflected the best of art and entertainment in Portugal, but also a mirror of the present, reinforcing the idea that culture remains one of the pillars of national identity. And thank goodness for that!
